We’ve always believed the best things on Shem Creek come naturally: the sounds of the creek, the view at sunset, the conversations that stretch a little longer than planned and the food and drinks that bring people together without trying too hard. 

So, while it may seem effortless for our staff, the community we’ve built here at SWC is the result of a lot of hard work by many good people — local partners, all-star staff and loyal patrons alike. That’s why we’re especially grateful to share that Saltwater Cowboys has been nominated for not one but 13 Charleston City Paper Best of 2026 awards! Now, that’s impressive, Cowboy!

Being recognized alongside so many of Charleston’s favorite restaurants is an honor, and it’s one we don’t take lightly.

From seafood to slow-smoked barbecue, Saltwater Cowboys has always been about keeping things real and rooted in the Lowcountry. Whether guests come for waterfront dining in Charleston, a casual night out at a waterfront bar, or what some folks call the best BBQ on the creek, our goal has stayed the same: serve food we’re proud of in a place that feels like home.
